MESSAGE FROM CENTRAL SCHOOL STAFF AND SCHOOL COUNCIL

Dear Central Families,

WATER DOES WONDERS:
Burlington is taking part in Ontario’s Healthy Kids Community Challenge’s current theme, Water Does Wonders. This theme promotes the health benefits of drinking more water and reducing sugar sweetened beverage consumption. At Central, students will learn that water is a low cost, convenient, healthy, first choice for drinks. See attached for more details and a hard copy per family will be coming home to review with your child.

FOOD DRIVE:
Our staff and students are looking forward to helping our local community by having a food drive beginning December 6th. We hope to raise awareness for those in need. Classes will have a friendly competition to see which class can collect the most donated non-perishable food items. Thank you for your support!

JELLY BEAN CONTEST:
The Jelly Bean contest is back! During the week of December 12th students can guess how many Jelly Beans are in the jar. Each guess is 50 cents. The student that is closest wins the jar of Jelly Beans! All money raised will go towards purchasing food for our food drive.

BAKE SALE:
This year we will be having two bake sales. The first will be on Friday December 16th, and will be for JK and SK students. Our second bake sale will be Wednesday December 21st (after the afternoon Holiday Concert and again after the evening performance), we will be looking for baked and store bought goodies as well as volunteers. Watch for the notices to be sent home this week.

INDIGO BOOK NIGHT:
Thank you to all who came out to our Indigo in-store event last week. We raised close to $600 as well as a shopping bag full of books for the school library. Don’t forget, you can still buy gift cards throughout the year – help us hit the $1,000 mark for our school library!
