Dear Central Families,

Movie Night is this Friday, October 28th! Please join us in the gym for a free screening of Hotel Transylvania 2! Bring a camping chair, a blanket, and we'll have popcorn, treats and drinks on sale to complete the movie going experience! Bring a donation for the Food Bank and you'll be entered to win a DVD copy of the movie!

On Monday, October 31st we will be having our annual Halloween Spirit parade at 9:00am. Traditionally, we have allowed our students to dress up on Halloween and they may do so again this year. Halloween will also be a "Spirit Day" where those students who wish, may dress up in orange and black.

Please remember that violent, horrific costumes that might elicit fear and anxiety in any way are not appropriate in a school environment. Please leave props and masks at home to avoid loss of items and to avoid anyone from getting hurt. As well, we would like to remind all students and families that costumes that mimic the traditional attire of an ethnic, religious, racial or gender group/identity are inappropriate and unacceptable. Examples of inappropriate costumes include dressing up as Pocahontas, a person who is Transgender, a person who is a Khalsa Sikh or a person who is a Hasidic Jew.

We have made accommodations for children who do not celebrate Halloween to be supervised in our library during the parade. After the parade children may stay in their costumes until 10:15 a.m. At first break costumes will be put in lockers or cubbies in order for your child to take them home after school.

As of September 2016, all returning volunteers need to complete the new Annual Offence Declaration Form at Once completed, please submit the form to the office. The link to this form can also be found on the HDSB website under "Parents - Get Involved". If you are interested in becoming a new volunteer at Central PS, please complete the HDSB Volunteer Application Form at along with the Annual Offence Declaration Form mentioned above and submit to your child's teacher. You will also need to a complete a police check with vulnerable sector screening, which can be done online at the Halton Region Police website ( Thank you for supporting our students at school through this important and valuable role as a volunteer.

A big thank you to all the families participating in the Birthday Book Club. We’re looking forward to adding their books to the library.
